So, I have a website now!

I've been working on and off (mostly off) towards making a website for my art for years. It's finally happened! This blog was a side effect. I'm not sure what I'll write in it yet: thoughts, doodles, scribbles, maybe I'll do some creative writing someday. Who knows. I'm calling it my sketchbook. That's probably what it'll be. A sketchbook is meant to be messy, for ideas and experiments. Maybe I'll never write in it. I've definitely got sketchbooks like that: a drawing on the first page, then blank. Hopefully this won't end up one of those ones.
In this first post, I'd like to talk about websites. Specifically, my journey towards this one. I know a little HTML, and basically no javascript. I've made websites the hard 'real' way before, as side projects. I've even made portfolio websites that way. None of them ever got put on the internet. This is a good thing. Playing with CSS ended up with some colour combinations that put my childhood monster nightmares to shame. Also, I could never be bothered to sort my images. So they never got finished.
I also tried an app called Universe. The colours were worse. And the design even less intuitive. This is nothing against the app, by the way, only my ability to use it. In their defence, it was new (I think) when I started. I could tell because, well, you can just tell. I'm sure they've added loads of features in the past couple of years, but I wanted to try something different. Something like (flashback to computer class when I was about 14 - the colours I chose were even wackier then) Wix.
Mostly, what got in the way of this happening sooner was not my lack of attempts (of which there were many) but my lack of dedication. Finishing projects like this is hard. I'm still sorting through years worth of paintings (along with miscellaneous other art) and attempting to put them in the gallery section in some sort of order. Don't even get me started on photography. Actually, I haven't started with the photography. Hold that thought. I should make a photography section. There will hopefully be one by the time anyone reads this (if anyone ever does)
Mostly the difference between now and all the other times is that I'm procrastinating doing maths (Not actually a difference - a fact of life. Everything I do is procrastinating maths). Also, the template I chose is actually ok on the colour front. I'm not going to change that. No purple and yellow monsters here!
Stardate 1am, tomorrow.
Until next time I'm bored/confused/tired enough to write in here.
Good night.
